Her horses were lovely, well-mannered and well-cared for, as well as spirited and a joy to ride. And the Somerset countryside, which Kathryn knows well, is a dream to ride through – absolutely lovely with lots of wide open spaces to have good, long canters up and down hills, along trails, through the woods, and of course, gallop along the beach. Also, the farm where I stayed could not have been more charming, welcoming and comfortable. And all their meals are fresh from their lovely garden! In short, I had a wonderful holiday on horseback and absolutely cannot wait to return.

I just wanted to thank you, I had a lovely ride on Smooch. I was very impressed by the professionalism and friendliness of the service from when I booked until I dismounted. I couldn’t fault anything, the tack and horses looked very well looked after. I was taken out in beautiful countryside with a variety of wooded/open countryside. I can say it was the best ride I’ve had since owning my own pony twenty years ago. I will be looking at visiting again when I’m back down in Somerset - I can’t wait!

It’s hard to believe that a simple two hour train journey out of London would take me to such breathtaking countryside. The well-trained and happy horses clearly enjoyed their surroundings almost as much as me. We cantered up hills and through trees, trotted in the forest to the beat of a woodpecker pecking on a tree and strolled under the huge wingspans of buzzards flying overhead. Kathryn had responsive Smooch and me naturally entering in and out of canter from and to trot which was so wonderful.

As a polluted Londoner, I felt as alive as Kathryn’s horses and smiled all the way home, fully revitalised and back in touch with glorious Mother Nature. I can’t wait to re-visit.
